As in the first outdoor quarter final game in Novosibirsk with a hail of netted goals by both sides, 10-7, the match-up in Khabarovsk boasted with even more scoring chances and delivered goals. However, even though Sibselmash really went out of the way to keep up with SKA' goal realization and they succeeded doing so in the first half, SKA added to their game in the second and beat their opponents. This win secured them a spot in the semis!

The entire first half and the very beginning of the second one felt like a recurring episode of deja vu from the previous game. SKA demonstrated the same roller-coaster scoring tempo and the scoreboard read 6-5 by the 46th minute, mostly due in part as well to complacency of the hosting team not paying proper attention to D-zone. Four out of total Sibselmash seven netted goals were contributed by the former SKA players, like Maslov, Vshivkov and Petrovskiy. In the second half, however, SKA appeared to conclude that playing cat and mouse won't drive them to a limo league of the Russian bandy, SKA got their guns unholstered and snuffed out their opponents, 13-7. These two games were definitely not a write-off, Sibselmash showed desire and ability to stand tall against the present Russian champion.

Now, SKA faces Baikal Energia from Irkutsk in the coming semifinals to be held in Yerofey Arena on March 12 and 13. Yenisey has also qualified for the semis. Both teams are considered dead cert favorites.
