Game One. Uralskiy Trubnik has proved to be a tough homestand team, and the win in Pervouralsk is considered to be very rewarding by every squad in the League. Trubnik had lost 2 points only by the time they hopped on the ice in the game against the reigning champ . Yet, filling out his starting line-up was a hard nut to crack for our head coach, Mikhail Yuriev. One of the pivotal players Aleksandr Antipov had to stay home because of injury, another three main figures on the team Alan Jusoev(!), Stanislav Turushev and Chingiz Handamaev just arrived for the game from Finland after a few difficult internationals. Weather was another factor to count in, lots of snow always fights on the side of the weakest in bandy. It's a universal law!
Anyways, SKA expressed lot's of stamina and put on a good show with a so archetypal roller coaster for our team in this season. After two goals executed by Artyom Bondarenko, they let two easy goals in. Same old, same old! Then they opened the floodgate to score 4 in a row! Alan Jusoev scored twice, Erik Pettersson and finally a long-waited release of the ball behind the net by Denis Korev. A good 6-4 wrap-up for the road swing. SKA is on the way home to face off their archrivals from Yenisey on February 1.
Game Two. "El Classico" between the two top teams of the Russian Bandy brought about a spectacular show! SKA has had a nice little run for the past couple of games and "the Game" was to have been expected by everybody as a tough and even one. Our hometown team crushed that design by scoring 7 goals in the first. Alan Jusoev entertained his fans with a blistering shot from afar. Yuriy Bondarenko, a defenceman, had a real good read off Yuriy Shardakov's feed and scored fantastically on breakaway, his first for the team in 90+ games. Artyom Bondarenko erupted for a hattie. Erik Pettersson "double troubled" their opponents all over again. Victor Kamenev fend off a penalty shot.
In the second, Artyom Bondarenko kept steamrolling, having scored another hat trick, all totaled at 6. Dmitriy Anikin fixed an amazing 360 pirouette and tipped it in. Maksim Ishkeldin hammered it home after a long and amazing dribbling past a number of the Yenisey players. Erik missed a penalty shot. Alan scored yet another amazing one. SKA-Neftyanik dumped Yenisey, 13-4, and that's the fact of life!
