Edsbyn, a recent participant of the Governor Cup International in Khabarovsk, has won the Swedish Bandy Cup for the third time in the club's history with a 5-0 victory against one of the renowned teams in Sweden, Vasteras. It was the first bandy trophy of the season to be challenged in the country in 2019-2020.
Just a reminder to our readers, that the National Bandy Cup was founded in 2005. Only five teams were lucky to hoist it overhead and skate around the bandy field. Sandvikens AIK have been the most successful team in the Cup history, having won the prize 6 times. The last time Edsbyn won the trophy was in 2008. Thus, "the Red Farmers" redeemed themselves for the relative flop in the Governor Cup.
In the semifinal game Edsbyn clipped Villa from Lidkoping, a current National Chapion, 4-3, in overtime. Bollnas, another team, having challenged Governor Cup, also reached semifinals, but lost to Vasteras, also in OT., i-2. As we already mentioned, Edsbyn blanked Vasteras, 5-0, to be awarded the National Cup for the third time.
