In the first official game of 2019 SKA-neftyanik stunned Dynamo Moscow to win the Russian Bandy Super Cup.
Plenty of ink has spilled over this event with lots of expectation to see the continuation of the fierce rivalry between SKA and Dynamo based on the recent results in the regular championship match-up(4-4) and in the Russian Cup final game(3-1). All those hopes went up in smoke, when as of the very beginning our hometown team managed to get their opponents tied down constraining their offensive power. Dynamo looked like a shell of the former selves allowing in goal after goal with two first turning-point ones within a minute time span. Although the first half ended in a one-sided blowout,7-1, were it not for the sharpness of our goalie and reliable performance of the defence, quite rarely letting Dynamo to near their D-zone, it would have resulted in a different game scenario at the early stage of the game.
The second half actions appeared to be a mere formality. SKA were leading the game in a very balanced way contributing way lesser than their actual potential to end it up with a new scoring record for all of the final games for the Super Cup, 10-2. Congratulations with a second trophy of 2018-2019 and we'll see our hometown team again on the seventh to play Kuzbass in the regulars.
