Yet another last season offender has been crushed by our hometown team in Novosibirsk.
Due to scheduling this year SKA had to finish it up in a three-game series against those teams that upset them in 2017-2018. SKA had missed out on those valuable points which prevented them to climb up to the top of the final standings after the regular championship. The redemption games panned out quite nicely for SKA this time around. They beat Uralskiy Trubnik(10-3), Kuzbass(2-0) and Sibselmash(7-1) tonight.
Despite of a -20C plus winter weather, a Mikhail Yuriev squad romped over Sibselmash, as if playing at their Yerofey home arena. The fate of the game was sealed within a span of some minutes, when Artyom Bondarenko and Maksim Ishkeldin scored a couple each in the first half. No hope of coming back for the Sibselmash fans was altogether left over, when after the break Erik Pettersson found the back of the net twice in the row. He tallied his 38th.
SKA is riding high with 9 points ahead of their chasers. They are back home to play Kuzbass on the 7th of January. Don't forget about the one of the main attractions of the year: SKA and Dynamo Moscow will square off in the Super Cup game on January 4, 2019.
