This win over Yenisey was admirably observed by more than 6000 of the team fans. This match-up wasn't that crucial as the last one of the previous season, that determined which team would take it all. Our hometown team began 2018-19 championship at full tilt collecting as many wins as it gets. Yenisey, having been a close runner-up and a silver medalist of the last season, on the contrary, failed to pick up points right from the start, but it doesn't matter at all when two arguably best teams in the world are squaring off.
Both teams started the game putting out feelers to find soft spots in the opponents' defense, which resulted in only two goals in a thirty minute stretch. However, SKA players were more successful with a two-goal advantage after the first half. Jusoev and Peterson( both having been Yenisey players in the past) supplied yet another quality start with three goals out of four. Denis Potemin scored the final one of the half-time three minutes before heading to a locker room.
In the second half SKA were keeping the pace up, despite Yenisey's attempts to fight back. As a result, they failed to even things up, while our hometown team scored four and had another win, 8-4 under their belt, with a fascinating corner shot game culmination by another star player Yuriy Vikulin.
It was the fifth win in a row for SKA-Neftyanik. The next homestand game against Dynamo Kazan will take place on the 22nd of this month. Dynamo is taking the second highest position in the current standings, while SKA is on the third notch, but is short of one game.
